Adonis

A low-proof aperitif of dry sherry and sweet vermouth with orange bitters — rounder and sweeter than its Bamboo sibling. Named for an 1880s Broadway hit.

Ingredients

  • Dry Sherry1½ ounces
  • Sweet Vermouth1½ ounces
  • Orange Bitters2 dashes
  • Orange Twist1 each

Directions

Stir dry sherry, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters with ice until cold. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with an orange twist.

Notes

A turn-of-the-century New York classic, named for the burlesque show 'Adonis'. Sherry-forward and dinner-opening. Uses the new fortified-wine base.
