Affinity

A Scotch Manhattan split between dry and sweet vermouth — the 'perfect' build, smoky and balanced. The Rob Roy's more nuanced sibling.

Ingredients

  • Blended Scotch1½ ounces
  • Dry Vermouth¾ ounce
  • Sweet Vermouth¾ ounce
  • Angostura Bitters2 dashes
  • Brandied Cherry1 each

Directions

Stir Scotch, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, and both bitters with ice until cold. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a brandied cherry.

Notes

Documented in Hugo Ensslin's 1916 manual. The dual vermouth is what makes it an Affinity rather than a Rob Roy.
