An apple-cider-vinegar shrub spiked with fresh ginger — autumnal and bracing.

- Grated Apple1 cup
- Grated Ginger2 tablespoons
- Sugar1 cup
- Apple Cider Vinegar1 cup
Directions
Macerate 1 cup grated apple and 2 tbsp grated ginger with 1 cup sugar for 24 hours. Stir in 1 cup apple cider vinegar. Strain, pressing the solids, and bottle.
Notes
Apple cider vinegar is the most home-sourceable shrub base. Fresh ginger, not powdered, gives the clean heat.
