Bijou

Gin, green Chartreuse, sweet vermouth, orange bitters. Harry Johnson's Bartenders' Manual, 1900. Means 'jewel' — gold, ruby, emerald.

Ingredients

  • London Dry Gin1 ounce
  • Green Chartreuse1 ounce
  • Sweet Vermouth1 ounce
  • Orange Bitters1 dash
  • Brandied Cherry1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a brandied cherry.

Notes

The three colors of the ingredients give the name. Spirit-forward and herbal.
