Bitter Aperitivo Spritz

A bittersweet aperitivo over ice with sparkling water — the one zero-proof category that genuinely delivers, because bitterness is the easiest flavor to do well without alcohol.

Ingredients

  • Bitter Non-Alcoholic Aperitivo2 ounces
  • Sparkling Water3 ounces
  • Orange Half-Wheel1 each

Directions

Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the bitter aperitivo, top with sparkling water, and stir gently. Garnish with an orange half-wheel.

Notes

This is the lone entry that leans on a bottled product, and only because the bitter-aperitivo category (Ghia, Pathfinder, Casamara, De Soi) is the one that actually tastes good rather than impersonating a spirit. Use one you've tried and like; if you haven't found one, build any of the shrub or cordial spritzes instead.
