Variant

Bourbon or rye, Campari, sweet vermouth. The Negroni's American cousin — richer, deeper, more autumn.

Ingredients

  • Bourbon Whiskey1¼ ounces
  • Campari1 ounce
  • Sweet Vermouth1 ounce
  • Orange Peel1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain over a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange peel.

Notes

Erskine Gwynne, the editor for whom this was named in 1927, was a Paris-based American. Some recipes go 1.5:1:1 (more whiskey).
