Brandy Old-Fashioned (Wisconsin)

Brandy, sugar, bitters, muddled fruit, soda or 7-Up. Wisconsin's signature variation on the Old Fashioned. Sweet, fruity, definitely not the New York version.

Ingredients

  • American Brandy2 ounces
  • Sugar Cube1 each
  • Angostura Bitters3 dashes
  • Orange Slice1 each
  • Brandied Cherry1 each
  • Soda Water2 ounces

Directions

Muddle a sugar cube with bitters and a small splash of water in a rocks glass. Add a slice of orange and a cherry; muddle gently. Add ice and brandy. Stir. Top with soda water or 7-Up. Garnish with the muddled orange and cherry.

Notes

Muddled orange and cherry are the Wisconsin signature. Korbel brandy is the local choice. Top with soda for 'sour,' 7-Up for 'sweet,' or just water for 'press.'
