Caipirinha

Cachaça, lime, sugar. Brazil's national cocktail. Smashed lime, raw sugar, fresh cachaça. Earthy, funky, sharp.

Ingredients

  • Cachaça2 ounces
  • Lime (cut into quarters)1 each
  • Raw Sugar2 teaspoons

Directions

Cut a lime in quarters. Add to a rocks glass with sugar. Muddle to release juice and oils. Add cachaça. Fill with crushed ice. Stir well.

Notes

Real cachaça (Avuá, Leblon, Novo Fogo). Cut lime into wedges, muddle with raw sugar (not simple syrup).
