Coronation

A low-proof aperitif of dry sherry and dry vermouth with maraschino and orange bitters — light, nutty, and bone-dry. A cousin of the Bamboo.

Ingredients

  • Dry Sherry1½ ounces
  • Dry Vermouth1½ ounces
  • Maraschino Liqueur¼ ounce
  • Orange Bitters2 dashes
  • Lemon Twist1 each

Directions

Stir dry sherry, dry vermouth, maraschino, and orange bitters with ice until cold. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes

A pre-Prohibition classic from the Manhattan-era hotel bars. Uses the v1.7 fortified-wine base. A small kiss of maraschino is the only sweetness.
