Cognac, calvados, sweet vermouth. The lesser-known Corpse Reviver from Harry Craddock's Savoy Cocktail Book, 1930. Spirit-forward, no citrus. The morning version.

Ingredients

  • Cognac VSOP1 ounce
  • Calvados1 ounce
  • Sweet Vermouth1 ounce

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe.

Notes

Craddock recommended this 'to be taken before 11 a.m., or whenever steam and energy are needed.' Quality calvados (Boulard, Roger Groult).
