Cosmopolitan

Citrus vodka, Cointreau, cranberry, lime. Maligned for 90s ubiquity, but a properly-made Cosmo is sharp, dry, and balanced.

Ingredients

• Citrus Vodka1½ ounces
• Cointreau¾ ounce
• Cranberry Juice Cocktail¾ ounce
• Fresh Lime Juice½ ounce
• Flamed Orange Peel1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Double-strain into a chilled coupe. Express a flamed orange peel over and discard.

Notes

Real cranberry juice cocktail (not 100% cranberry — too tart) and fresh lime. Toby Cecchini's Odeon recipe from 1988 is the gold standard.
