Dark Orchard

A rye sour with a tropical bend. Basil Hayden Dark Rye's fig and baking-spice character anchors a restrained lychee note, with allspice dram and Angostura bridging the spirit's spice to the fruit. Spirit-forward, low-sweetness, sized to fill a large martini glass.

  • Basil Hayden Dark Rye2½ ounces
  • Lychee liqueur¾ ounce
  • Fresh lemon juice1 ounce
  • Allspice dram1 barspoon
  • Angostura bitters3 dashes
  • Lemon peel1 piece

Combine rye, lychee liqueur, lemon juice, allspice dram, and Angostura in a shaker with ice. Shake hard for about 15 seconds. Double strain into a large martini glass. Express a lemon peel over the surface and drop it in.
