Honey-Citrus Cordial

A honey-based cordial brightened with lemon and orange peel — a rounded sweetener with more depth than plain syrup.

Ingredients

  • Honey1 cup
  • Water0.5 cup
  • Lemon Peel1 each
  • Orange Peel1 each
  • Fresh Lemon Juice2 tablespoons

Directions

Warm 1 cup honey with 1/2 cup water until combined. Off heat, steep the peels of 1 lemon and 1 orange 30 minutes, then stir in 2 tbsp lemon juice. Strain and bottle.

Notes

Honey gives body and a floral note; the citrus peels keep it from being one-dimensional. Good in tea highballs.
