Hot Buttered Rum

Aged rum, butter, brown sugar, spices, hot water. Colonial American — a winter restorative. Rich, warming, dessert-adjacent.

Ingredients

  • Aged Rum2 ounces
  • Spiced Butter Mix1 tablespoon
  • Hot Water4 ounces
  • Freshly Grated Nutmeg1 pinch
  • Cinnamon Stick1 each

Directions

Place a spoonful of spiced butter mix in the bottom of a warmed mug. Add rum. Top with hot water and stir until butter melts. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.

Notes

Make a butter mix in advance: softened butter beaten with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves. Adds incredible body.
