Hurricane
Light and dark rum, passion fruit, citrus, sugar. Pat O'Brien's, New Orleans, 1940s. A rum punch invented to use up excess rum during WWII.

Ingredients
- Light Rum2 ounces
- Dark Rum2 ounces
- Fresh Lime Juice1 ounce
- Fresh Orange Juice1 ounce
- Passion Fruit Syrup1 ounce
- Simple Syrup½ ounce
- Orange Slice1 each
- Brandied Cherry1 each
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake briefly. Pour unstrained into a hurricane glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a brandied cherry.
Notes
Real passion fruit syrup (Liber & Co or homemade), not the neon-red mix. The drink is bold and tropical, not the slushy disaster it sometimes becomes.
