Improved Brandy Cocktail

Cognac, sugar, absinthe, maraschino, bitters. Jerry Thomas, 1876 — the brandy version of his Improved Whiskey Cocktail.

Ingredients

  • Cognac VSOP2 ounces
  • Demerara Syrup1 teaspoon
  • Maraschino Liqueur1 bar spoon
  • Angostura Bitters2 dashes
  • Absinthe0.13 ounce
  • Lemon Peel1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain over a large ice cube. Express a lemon peel over and drop it in.

Notes

Same template as the Improved Whiskey Cocktail, with cognac. The absinthe and maraschino are seasoning.
