Margarita

Tequila, lime, orange liqueur. Done right with fresh juice and good Cointreau, it's a master class in three-ingredient balance.

Ingredients

  • Blanco Tequila2 ounces
  • Cointreau1 ounce
  • Fresh Lime Juice¾ ounce
  • Lime Wheel1 each
  • Kosher Salt (rim)1 pinch

Directions

Rim half a rocks glass with salt. Combine tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice in a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Notes

Salt the rim by rubbing a lime wedge along half the glass, then dipping in coarse salt — half-rim so the drinker can choose. Skip the sour mix.
