Monkey Gland

Gin and orange juice with grenadine and an absinthe rinse — sunny and strange, named after a notorious 1920s 'rejuvenation' surgery.

Ingredients

• London Dry Gin2 ounces
• Fresh Orange Juice1 ounce
• Grenadine¼ ounce
• Absinthe2 dashes
• Orange Twist1 each

Directions

Shake gin, orange juice, grenadine, and absinthe with ice. Double-strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with an orange twist.

Notes

Created by Harry MacElhone at Harry's New York Bar, Paris, c.1923. The absinthe is what lifts it from a screwdriver into a cocktail.
