New York Sour

Variant

Whiskey, lemon, sugar, egg white, with a red wine float. A Whiskey Sour with a dramatic crimson layer on top.

Ingredients

  • Bourbon Whiskey2 ounces
  • Fresh Lemon Juice¾ ounce
  • Simple Syrup¾ ounce
  • Egg White (optional)1 each
  • Red Wine (float)½ ounce

Directions

Combine whiskey, lemon, syrup, and egg white in a shaker. Dry-shake 10 seconds. Add ice, shake 10 more. Double-strain over a large ice cube. Float red wine slowly over the back of a bar spoon.

Notes

Use a fruity, full-bodied red — Malbec or Shiraz works best. Float carefully over the back of a bar spoon.
