A Manhattan made with Scotch. Created at the Waldorf Astoria in 1894 to honor the premiere of Robert Louis Stevenson's operetta.

Ingredients

  • Blended Scotch2 ounces
  • Sweet Vermouth1 ounce
  • Angostura Bitters2 dashes
  • Brandied Cherry1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a brandied cherry.

Notes

Blended Scotch — Famous Grouse, Dewar's, Monkey Shoulder. Single malt overpowers the vermouth.
