Salted Watermelon Cooler

Fresh watermelon, lime, and a pinch of salt over ice. The simplest drink on the list and, on a hot day, possibly the best — the salt makes the melon taste more like itself.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Watermelon Juice4 ounces
  • Fresh Lime Juice½ ounce
  • Soda Water1 ounce
  • Sea Salt1 pinch
  • Watermelon Wedge1 each

Directions

Stir fresh watermelon juice, lime juice, and a pinch of salt in a tall glass. Fill with ice and top with a splash of soda. Garnish with a watermelon wedge.

Notes

Salt is the technique: it amplifies watermelon the way it does on the fruit itself. Blend and strain for a clean cooler, or leave it rustic.
