Saturn

Gin, lemon, passion fruit, falernum, orgeat. J. 'Popo' Galsini, 1967 — a forgotten tiki classic with gin as the base. Won the 1967 IBA World Cocktail Championship.

Ingredients

• London Dry Gin1¼ ounces
• Fresh Lemon Juice½ ounce
• Passion Fruit Syrup½ ounce
• Velvet Falernum¼ ounce
• Orgeat¼ ounce
• Lime Peel Ring1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice. Shake briefly. Pour unstrained into a tiki mug. Garnish with a passion fruit lime peel ring (the 'Saturn' visual).

Notes

Rare for a tiki drink to use gin. The combination is unexpected and excellent — the gin keeps it dry where rum would over-sweeten.
