Singapore Sling

Gin, Cherry Heering, Bénédictine, Cointreau, pineapple, lime, grenadine, bitters, soda. Ngiam Tong Boon at Raffles Hotel, Singapore, 1915. A long tropical drink.

Ingredients

  • London Dry Gin1½ ounces
  • Cherry Heering½ ounce
  • Bénédictine¼ ounce
  • Cointreau¼ ounce
  • Fresh Pineapple Juice1½ ounces
  • Fresh Lime Juice½ ounce
  • Grenadine¼ ounce
  • Angostura Bitters1 dash
  • Soda Water1 ounce
  • Pineapple Wedge1 each
  • Brandied Cherry1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients except soda in a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Strain into a highball glass with fresh ice. Top with soda. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a brandied cherry.

Notes

The Raffles version became overrun with bad copies. This is the version closer to the original — fresh juices, real ingredients, balanced.
