Smoked Margarita

Mezcal, lime, Cointreau, agave. The smoky riff on a Margarita that became its own thing in the 2010s.

Ingredients

  • Mezcal Espadín2 ounces
  • Cointreau1 ounce
  • Fresh Lime Juice¾ ounce
  • Agave Syrup¼ ounce
  • Lime Wheel1 each
  • Kosher Salt (rim) (optional)1 pinch

Directions

Rim half a rocks glass with salt. Combine mezcal, Cointreau, lime, and agave in a shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Notes

Quality espadín. Salt rim optional but traditional.
