An apple-brandy Manhattan — applejack, sweet vermouth, and bitters, stirred and served up. Orchard warmth where rye's spice would be.

  • Applejack1½ ounces
  • Sweet Vermouth1½ ounces
  • Angostura Bitters2 dashes
  • Lemon Twist1 each

Directions

Stir applejack, sweet vermouth, and bitters with ice until cold. Strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Notes

A turn-of-the-century classic documented in early manuals. Applejack stands in for whiskey against the sweet vermouth.
