Canadian whisky or rye, Fernet-Branca, sugar, bitters. From Toronto, 1922. The Old Fashioned with Fernet. Bracing.

Ingredients

• Rye Whiskey2 ounces
• Fernet-Branca¼ ounce
• Demerara Syrup1 teaspoon
• Angostura Bitters1 dash
• Orange Peel1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain over a large ice cube. Express an orange peel over and drop it in.

Notes

Fernet is the signature — the menthol note transforms the drink. Fernet-Branca specifically.
