Tuxedo No. 2

Old Tom gin, dry sherry, maraschino, absinthe, orange bitters. From the Savoy Cocktail Book, 1930. A complex, herbal, aromatic spirit-forward drink.

Ingredients

  • Old Tom Gin1½ ounces
  • Fino Sherry1½ ounces
  • Maraschino Liqueur¼ ounce
  • Orange Bitters2 dashes
  • Absinthe0.13 ounce
  • Lemon Peel1 each

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Express a lemon peel over and drop it in.

Notes

Fino or Manzanilla sherry for the dry profile. Absinthe is a small amount; don't pour heavy.
