Variant

Whiskey, lemon, sugar, mint. A muddled summer drink — the Mint Julep's brighter cousin. Dale DeGroff popularized the modern version.

Ingredients

  • Bourbon Whiskey2 ounces
  • Lemon Wedges4 each
  • Simple Syrup½ ounce
  • Fresh Mint Leaves8 each
  • Mint Sprig1 each

Directions

Muddle lemon wedges, mint leaves, and simple syrup in a shaker. Add whiskey and ice. Shake hard. Double-strain over crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Notes

Lemon wedges (not juice) and mint leaves together — muddle them. Lemon skin contributes oil pure juice can't.
