Rhum agricole, lime, cane syrup. National drink of the French Caribbean. Served at room temperature traditionally — no ice. 'Chacun prépare sa propre mort.'

Ingredients

  • Rhum Agricole Blanc2 ounces
  • Cane Syrup¼ ounce
  • Lime Slice (juiced and dropped in)1 each

Directions

Cut a slice of lime, squeeze juice into a rocks glass, drop the spent slice in. Add cane syrup. Add rhum agricole. Stir briefly. Traditionally served without ice; modern versions add a single small cube.

Notes

Quality rhum agricole blanc from Martinique. Small, strong, direct — three ingredients, no shaking.
